On My Mind Monday // Girls Gone Transparent: Photography 101 Workshop

Apr 3, 2017

On Saturday, April 1st at Onesto we hosted the first Girls Gone Transparent: Photography 101 Workshop and it was a huge success!
Autumn, Ron, Caleb and I worked so hard to put our very first workshop together this weekend and I am so proud to have taken part in such a rewarding workshop.
Over the past 6.5 years of running Studio 29 Photography, there were several moments when the phrase, “I wish I would have known that” went through my head. It was truly a joy to give back to the industry and take time to share the knowledge I wish I would have known when I first started.
Students arrived around 3:15, walked up the staircase and were greeted by a mirrored Welcome sign. They picked up their name tag ((I wrote out each name in gold calligraphy)) grabbed a starburst, and then selected their spot. Each seat had a moleskine notebook, pen, and a glass of sparkling water. We arranged the tables in a horse-shoe orientation around the television displaying our course slideshow.
Our Photography 101 Workshop taught key concepts of photography, showed how to use your camera, and provided students with an opportunity to put their knowledge to use by taking photos of the beautifully styled donut table, Izze Soda drink cart, and elegant table-scape. We chose Onesto for the location of our workshop, so that it would be relaxed and casual for our participants.
The class size and course material allowed us to offer one-on-one attention and breadth for attendees to ask any questions they had regarding photography. The atmosphere was inviting for beginners and amateur photographers alike to help their personal growth.
Yesterday morning, I woke up to the sweetest text message from Erin, one of our workshop attendees,”I just wanted to drop you a little text — class was fab! I’m way more confident in “playing” in manual mode. You guys both inspired me to shoot 15-30 mins each day to continue to work and build my confidence in taking photos! Thank you for a wonderful afternoon!”
Thank you Onesto for sharing your perfect space for our event. Special thanks to Sally of Milwaukee Flower Co. for your floral and styling talents paired.  Thank you Relics Vintage Rentals for the beautiful rentals. Thank you Holey Moley for the delicious donuts. Thank you Angela from Married in Milwaukee for stopping by and showing your support! But, most of all, HUGE thanks to all who attended!!!
Here are a few photos Caleb and I took at the workshop:
