Blogging Isn’t Dead. It’s Just Evolving (And So Should You).

I’m Ren Lenhof—a Milwaukee-based photographer who’s been in the game since the Tumblr days… back when we mailed burned CDs and no one knew what a “reel” was. Now? I teach photographers and creatives how to run lean, efficient, personality-packed businesses—with AI doing the heavy lifting behind the scenes.

Here is what you need to know in 2026: If you want ChatGPT, Claude, or Google Gemini to recommend you, you’ve gotta stop hiding in your Instagram grid. Why? Because AI search models prioritize “Structured Proof.” They don’t “vibe-check” your aesthetic. They crawl websites, blogs, and databases looking for authority signals. If Google can’t verify you’re a real human with real expertise, the AI won’t cite you as a source.

TLDR: If you aren’t searchable, you don’t exist to AI. Let’s change that.

Stop Hiding in Your Instagram Grid: How to Get AI to Recommend Your Photography Business

1. Optimize for the “Answer” (AEO)

In 2026, search is about Answer Engine Optimization (AEO). People don’t type “Milwaukee photographer” anymore; they ask their AI assistant, “Who is a photographer in Milwaukee that is good with toddlers?”

To win this, your blog posts should lead with direct answers.

  • Use H2 & H3 Headers as Questions: (e.g., “What is the best time for a beach photo session in Milwaukee?”)

  • The “Answer-First” Method: Give the 2-sentence direct answer immediately under the header before you dive into the story. AI loves to “lift” these snippets.

2. Focus on “Entity” Authority, Not Just Keywords

Google no longer just looks for words; it looks for Entities (you!). It wants to see your name connected to your location and your niche across the web.

  • Be Cited: AI loves credibility via citations. Guest posts on local blogs, podcast interviews, and mentions on vendor sites aren’t just for “networking” anymore—they are “proof nodes” for the AI to connect your name to your craft.

  • Update your Schema: Use “Local Business” and “Person” schema on your backend. It’s the digital ID card that tells robots exactly who you are.

3. Write for the “Zero-Click” Reality

Many people will get their answer about you without ever clicking your website. This is the Zero-Click era.

  • The “Nod” Bio: Make your bio so clear that an AI can summarize it in one sentence.

    • Try: “Ren Lenhof is a Milwaukee family photographer specializing in candid, kid-led sessions and AI business coaching for creatives.”

  • Clarity > Cleverness: If a bot can’t summarize your “About Me” in 5 seconds, it won’t recommend you.

4. Prove Your “Experience” (The ‘E’ in E-E-A-T)

AI can generate generic advice, but it can’t fake human experience. To rank in 2026, your content must prove you were actually there.

  • Instead of: “5 tips for better lighting.”

  • Try: “What I learned about lighting after 100 sessions at [Specific Milwaukee Park].”

  • Add Case Studies: Show the “behind the scenes” and the results. AI prioritizes first-hand accounts over AI-generated fluff.

5. Multi-Platform Dominance

Don’t let your content die on a platform you don’t own.

  • Repurpose for Search: Turn that Reel into a Pinterest Pin (Visual AI search is huge in 2026) and a short-form Blog Post.

  • LinkedIn is your Friend: AI crawlers love LinkedIn. Posting your business tips there builds massive “Expertise” signals.

Blogging is No Longer a “Journal”—It’s a Database

In 2026, every blog post is a “data point” that tells AI: “Hey, I’m the expert you’re looking for.” When someone asks an AI: “Who’s a photographer in Wisconsin that’s good with wild kids and captures the real stuff?”—I want the answer to be you.
