Finding the right location for a photoshoot is about more than just finding four walls and a roof. It’s about finding the light. It’s about the vibe. For Milwaukee photographers and content creators, that search usually leads to one place: The Green Room.
Nestled in the heart of Bay View within the historic Lincoln Warehouse, The Green Room has earned its reputation as the city’s premier natural light rental studio. Here is why it’s the go-to spot for the MKE creative community of photographers.

1. The “Indoor Jungle” Aesthetic
As soon as you walk into Suite #322, you’re greeted by over 50 thriving live plants. This isn’t just a studio; it’s an indoor botanical sanctuary. The lush greenery provides a depth and texture to photos that you simply can’t get from a standard backdrop. It’s perfect for lifestyle sessions, branding, and anyone looking to add a “breath of fresh air” to their portfolio.
2. All-Day Dreamy Natural Light
Photographers know that lighting can make or break a session. The Green Room features massive north and east-facing windows that flood the 1,000-square-foot space with clean, soft, indirect light all day long. Whether you’re shooting a moody morning branding session or a bright afternoon family portrait, the light here is consistently beautiful.

3. High-End Props and Versatility
Forget hauling heavy furniture to your next shoot. The Green Room is curated with a blend of modern and boho pieces, including:
- A West Elm Andes Sectional for cozy lifestyle setups.
- Mid-century modern chairs and a Boho egg chair.
- Three seamless paper backdrops (always includes white, plus two rotating seasonal colors).
- A geometric wallpapered wall for a pop of modern texture.

4. A Space Built for Everyone
The studio was designed with both the photographer and the client in mind. The space includes a private dressing room, a service elevator for heavy equipment, and even a selection of refreshments. It’s not just for photoshoots, either—the studio is a popular choice for small workshops, styled shoots, and intimate events (up to 20 guests).
5. Stress-Free Logistics
Located at 2018 S 1st Street, The Green Room offers something rare in the city: Free Parking. And, it’s also one of the most flexible and affordable professional spaces in Milwaukee, allowing you to book exactly the time you need!!

Meet the Founder: Ren Lenhof
Behind the lush greenery and sun-drenched windows of The Green Room is Ren Lenhof, a veteran Milwaukee photographer and the creative force behind Studio 29 Photography.
With over a decade of experience capturing everything from high-end branding to intimate lifestyle moments, Ren understands the “studio struggle”—the hunt for consistent light, the need for a professional client experience, and the desire for a space that feels more like an inspiring home than a cold industrial box.
Ren originally designed The Green Room as her own private creative sanctuary—a place where her “indoor jungle” obsession and professional work could coexist. However, her deep roots in the Milwaukee creative community sparked a different idea. Recognizing that other local photographers, content creators, and small business owners needed a high-quality, reliable space to bring their visions to life, she decided to open her doors.
When Ren isn’t using the studio for her own Studio 29 sessions, she offers it as a turnkey rental for the MKE community. Because the space is curated by a working photographer, every detail—from the placement of the West Elm furniture to the selection of the seasonal paper backdrops—is chosen with the final shot in mind.
“I wanted to create a space that felt alive. When you walk into The Green Room, the light and the plants do half the work for you. I’m so excited to share this little slice of greenery with the rest of Milwaukee’s talented creators.” — Ren Lenhof
Why a “Photographer-Owned” Studio Matters:
- The Light is Vetted: Ren chose this specific unit in the Lincoln Warehouse because she knows how the sun moves through those windows throughout the day.
- Professional Amenities: From the service elevator access to the private changing area, the workflow is optimized for professional shoots.
- Community First: Ren isn’t just a landlord; she’s a peer. The space is maintained with the care and respect that only a fellow artist can provide.
