7 Days of Engagement // Studio 29 Photography

10/16/15

Thursday October 8 – The best day of my life, thus far! I had no idea Caleb was going to propose to me. Here is the video.
Friday October 9 – Woke up smiling, rolled over and said “why did I order that?” Answered emails and 33 unread text messages from congratulating friends and family. I went to Bayshore and met Caleb for lunch at Colectivo before heading to a jewelry store to pick out my engagement ring. Caleb had one in mind but wanted to make sure it was what I wanted. It was. We picked out a beautiful Leo Diamond on a flat satin brush rose gold band. We are promised it will be ready by Thursday. I cannot freaking wait!!
Saturday October 10 – We worked together. We photographed our friends wedding; congrats to Ashley + Drew. There wedding timeline was so brief and casual that it allowed us to photograph so many raw moments of laughter and happy tears. We got to experiment with some of my new “photography toys.” We played with a prism for the ring-shots and then we played with my pixel stick for some night photos. 🙂 It was such a fun wedding. Ashley and Drew were the perfect couple to celebrate our first weekend engaged!
Sunday October 11 – We got up super early and drove across the Mississippi to take a selfie in Iowa before driving back to Milwaukee. Go PACK Go!! We watched the game at Transfer Pizza, walked the dog, and then watched tv in bed.
Monday October 12 – Spent the day editing and anticipating our 2 Year Anniversary Dinner. Caleb made reservations at Sanford. We had never been there before, but agreed to go there someday for something special. This even was the original place and time Caleb had planned to propose to me. I am so glad he decided to do it on a whim at Turner Hall. #muchmoreus We dressed up! I bought a cute new black dress and some gladiator wedges. I painted my nails black and white. And, since it was a tad windy I threw on a sweater as we were walking out the door. The restaurant was pretty darn cold, but hey… when was the last time you wore on a cashmere sweater and thought, “Oh man, this is awful”? Never. The answer is never. The cold environment didn’t bother me one bit. I am still on Cloud 9.
Anyway, dinner was so spectacular. It was 5 courses each paired with a beer. Since I am allergic to Beer I drank whisky and handed my beers to Caleb. 🙂
Tuesday October 13 – Woke up, went to Colectivo for Breakfast with Kenzo. Shared a veggie pesto burrito on the patio and then walked Kenzo around Bay View. Caleb ordered his normal medium roast of the day and I tried something new; a small honey latte. I carried on my morning answering emails and editing photos. We met Caleb’s and our nephew Gus at Noodles and Co. for lunch. A little birdie told me it was Noodles’ 20th anniversary and they were giving out free rice krispie treats. So, duh, we had to go there! Came home edited and answered more emails before heading to a family session at my favorite park, Bay View Park.
Wednesday October 14 – Woke up, walked Kenzo. Worked. Worked. Worked. Finished editing 2 weddings and mailed them out. I always feel so wonderful when I open the mail box and put in envelopes full of USB drives holding such an important day. I am so happy to deliver these photos, but I am so sad that this day is over, the editing is over, thus, me re-living their wedding in my office is no longer part of my daily agenda. It is a bittersweet moment, actually. At 11:00 something amazing happened! I got an email from Chuck (STYSK) with the video of Caleb’s proposal to me. I was in complete awe. I also found two other versions on their Facebook page. I immediately shared them with friends and family. I think I watched them all about 6+ times. At 4:45 I met with one of my favorite couples, Rebecca + Nick, for their engagement session. We had a blast visiting several iconic areas of MKE: Schlitz Park, Brady Street, Lake Park, and then we wended the evening at Henry’s for a couple ring shots, cocktails, and 50cent wings! I came home to a crazy surprise. A Kay’s Jewelers bag was on the kitchen table. Then I realized the kitchen table chairs were out of order. Finally, I saw one of the chairs planted directly inline with the from door entrance with a handwritten love note that said “Hey Hey! Marry Me!” and a ring box. I was so excited, but also alone, I couldn’t possible just accept the ring alone. I needed Caleb. But I had to look! I had to see what this beauty looked like! I opened the box and LOVED it.
Thursday October 15 – Woke up, walked Kenzo. Appreciated the insane sunrise. A mix of peach, blood, and purple tones. Made coffee (Anodyne WSME 2.0) and a whey protein shake with blueberries. Caleb left for work and I went upstairs to my office to work on lots of calligraphy projects. A card for a Groom, leaf place cards, a mirror seating chart, and various signage for a wedding reception. After hours of tediously perfect handwriting I got my hair done by Jordan. ((love you chica)) Came home, edited & confirmed backups of my newest photos. Caleb called minutes before he got home from work and I hopped in his car to go to Braise. They have the best deals on their tap beers + wines and odds and ends meal selections. After dinner we rushed home because Caleb had to help me with some measurements for the mirror seating chart ((I am unapologetically a perfectionist)) Caleb had his last volleyball of the season tonight. I was so happy that I was able to attend one of his games. I have been so busy with sessions and editing that I have not been able to attend a volley ball game in several months. Caleb and his teammates rocked it – they won all 3 games! We came home and Caleb helped me measure out the precise columns and rows for a seating chart I am making for a client. I would not have been able to do such a beautiful job without his help. Thank you so much babe!

Summarization:  I love being engaged. I have never felt so special, so loved, so important! It was an immediate response that completely took over my mind the minute Caleb asked me to marry him. I feel invincible. It is so absurdly amazing to know that I will forever have a friend in this world. There is nothing in this life I will have to experience alone. We are in this for life and I am so ready! I love being Caleb’s someone.
