I spent two days this week photographing the Barstool Classic at The Club at Lac La Belle, and I walked away reminded why I love shooting events for Barstool Sports!! The tournament sold out completely, which tells you everything about how much this event has grown, and every group I photographed brought the kind of energy that makes a long shoot day feel not at all like “work.”
The Club at Lac La Belle has become one of my favorite places to spend a workday, and it’s not just because the course is immaculate. The staff treats every vendor and photographer like they matter to the event, which means I can focus on getting the shot instead of navigating logistics. That kind of support changes the entire pace of a two-day shoot, because I’m not losing time managing details that someone else has already handled for me.
Both days pushed past 90 degrees, and if you’ve ever photographed an outdoor event in that kind of heat, you know it tests your gear, your energy, and your timing all at once. I had to think ahead about when the light would get harsh and when players would need shade breaks, because a hot course changes how people move and how long they’re willing to pose. Planning around the heat instead of fighting it kept the shots consistent from the first tee to the last putt.
This year’s lineup included One Protein, Pink Whitney, DraftKings, Chevy, Lucy, and Adidas, and having that many brand partners on site meant a lot of moving pieces to capture. Each sponsor had their own presence and their own moment, and my job was to make sure every one of those moments got documented in a way that felt true to the brand and true to the day.

Every Barstool event I’ve shot has the same thread running through it: people are there to have a genuinely good time, and that makes them easy to photograph. You don’t have to coach anyone into looking relaxed when they’re already having fun. My job becomes about being in the right place at the right moment, and a gorgeous a course like Lac La Belle gives me a lot of right moments to choose from!
